For four very productive years working with a Board of Education for an urban school district that is among the poorest in the state of Ohio, and one of the poorest in the country, School Board Member Adil Baguirov can certainly be said to have made a huge difference. Prior to his arrival on the board, Dayton Public Schools district was in very bad shape, to the point that they were facing a state takeover.
Now, thanks to his hard work, as well as the hard work of the other board members to modernize the system to a significant degree, Dayton Public Schools is quite possibly in the best shape they have been in a number of decades. Adil Baguirov is proud of the fact that, the district received an "A" on their last state report card. Not only did that preclude the possibility of a state takeover, but it also put the district on its surest footing in a generation.
A prime example of the types of improvements Adil Baguirov has made since he has been an activist member of the Dayton Public Schools Board of Education has to be the replacement of their fleet of aging school buses. They brought in 115 brand-new buses that are among the best available. Also, since the new buses come with a 10-year bumper-to-bumper warranty, their maintenance costs will be minimal. Adil Baguirov also was able to finance them with existing money at a small 2.06 percent interest rate. The new buses are safer and more comfortable for the children and upkeep will be far less. That is just one example of how Adil Baguirov gives back to his community.
